The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12:31
Where will I go
when the marshes die?
When oil covers the sand
smothers the grass
kills the snails, minnows and snakes?
What will I eat when the crabs are gone?
and the sludge lies like a blanket of death
on my dining room table?
Where will I go to eat and drink and be merry…
or simply live another day?
I weep for what is lost
and
what will come.
Please make space for me!
Lover of us all, may we seek each day to mend our broken world so that there is vital, open space for all all creatures great and small.
Amen
