Can you walk/bike/carpool to church 3X this summer?
Our walk/bike/carpool to church day in April gave many of us a taste of how “slowing down” a simple trip to worship could change one’s day. For myself, I carpooled to the service with Peggy Harrison, who I am just getting to know, and had a chance to chat with her during the drive. On the way home, I walked, and saw an old friend that lives right on my drive to church; when I am in a car, a wave is all that can be conveyed. Since I stopped to talk, we caught up and shared some details about our children and our neighborhood. Cars are convenient, but besides the carbon dioxide they add to the atmosphere, they also separate us from each other. So add a friend to your car, or tie on your walking shoes, or dust off that bike, and slow down a few times this summer as you find your way to church. We can share our walking, carpooling, or biking stories when we all catch up again after Labor Day.
