Greetings and Peace to you all from Christian Education! It is my fourth day on the job here as interim director, and I am so humbly grateful for this opportunity to be a part of the ministry we share with our youth and families. I am so happy to be a part of a church that really values and cares about our Christian Education programs. You show you care in many ways, but the entire program wants to extend a huge thank you for helping us raise $450 at our recent dessert auction. That money will help kids attend trips and do mission work. Thanks for supporting them in experiencing church beyond our walls.
Our summer programming for children and youth is an exciting focus on God and science. We will be exploring lots of fun things like prisms and rainbows, tending the herb garden, and finding awe and wonder in how God has shaped the way our world works. I’m sure we will enjoy the yummy harvest as well as the satisfaction of watching both our herbs and our kids grow.
I know you might be reading this and thinking to yourself, “Wow! All of that sounds like a whole bunch of fun! I wish I were a kid again so I could do all that fun stuff!” Well guess what? God does provide. In this case, you can feel like a kid again by volunteering to teach one class this summer. What? Only one? Yes, we have to give everyone a chance to take part in the fun! But if you are an overachiever, we may be willing to find a spot for you to do more… Lesson plans will be provided, you can buddy-up with your church friends to co-teach, and there is no experience necessary. I will be around all summer long to provide support as needed. Come have a fun summer with us, and reap the benefits of feeling young again!
In God’s Grace,
Dawn Sorensen,
Interim Director of Christian Education
