Following our final choir service of the year, someone said to me, “Now you get to start planning it all over again!” How astute they were, because as the choir takes a break for a few months, my work shifts to a heavier focus on the administrative planning that will alleviate autumnal stress as much as possible. It’s a honed skill, to be sure! This fall is coming into focus right now, as when you look through binoculars for that distant bird in a tree. You know roughly where it is, and what it looks like, but there’s a period of wobbling the lenses all over the place until you lock it in. By the next newsletter that bird should be sharp and staring right back at us, but for now I can say that this fall we are looking at the re-dedication of our beloved organ, following the summer work that you all so lovingly financed through our fundraiser this May. “She” will be christened at worship on September 23, and that service will kick off a string of music-related services until we present a Saturday evening concert on November 3―many more details to follow.
This is a great time of year to consider your schedules and start debating in your mind whether you’d like to be a part of our Joyful Noise! If choir might be right for you or your high-school aged youth, please contact me for information. We want you!
