Two Ways to Lighten Your Impact on the Planet
#1 — Get ideas for more plant-based meals
“Taste of Compassion” Vegan Lunch
Sat., Feb. 1 at 1:00pm in Sue Dickerman Hall
Plant-based eating has benefits for your health, and is compassionate towards the planet and your fellow animals. Come experience how delicious and filling plant-based foods are, chat with community members, and come away with some ideas and recipes you can use at home! You are welcome to bring a vegan dish to share with everyone if you are inspired, but it is not required. Some gluten-free options will be available as well! The event is free with a suggested donation of $5 per person. To sign up to help with set-up or clean-up, or to bring a dish, contact Mary Memmott, memmottm@gmail.com. This event is co-sponsored with Transition Framingham.
#2 — Avoid buying new things by getting your old things repaired!
Framingham Repair Café
Saturday, February 8, 10:00am-1:00pm
Scott Hall at First Parish UU Framingham
24 Vernon St., Framingham
Bring your items that need repair, and knowledgeable volunteers will help you try to fix them for free. The volunteers can work on items such as clean mendable clothing, knitted and crocheted items, lamps, small appliances, computers and other electronics, bikes, toys, jewelry, wheelchairs, and sewing machines. They can also sharpen knives, scissors, and garden tools. You only pay for needed parts. If you know what parts are needed, please get them ahead of time and bring them to the Repair Café to save time. For more info, visit: TransitionFramingham.org/repair-café/.
There is still time to volunteer to help repair items! Contact Frank Carney or email TransitionFramingham@yahoo.com for details. The Repair Café is an all-volunteer project of the Framingham Rotary Club with support from Transition Framingham and First Parish Climate Action Team.
