A Lenten Devotion by Fran Bogle
How blessed is the one who finds wisdom and the one who gains understanding. For wisdom is better than the profit of silver and better than fine gold. Wisdom is more precious than jewels; Nothing you desire compares. Long life is in wisdom’s right hand; In the left are riches and honor. Wisdom’s ways are pleasant and all her paths are peace. Wisdom is a tree of life to those who take hold, and happy are all who hold fast.
Proverbs 3:13-18
When I wonder if I am wise, I remember the deep roots I have sunk into the rocky ground that surrounds me and give thanks for all that I have learned. Nurturing the tree of knowledge in my life is an everyday event. Never easy. Never taken for granted. Always sacred. I invite you to imagine and care for the tree of life and wisdom in your life especially when the desert looms large and the rocks seem to fill your path.
Holy life giver, fill us with strength to hold on to the wisdom we have gained. Help us use it to act in a world that sometimes seems to have become disconnected from the deep roots of love that You have shared with us over the millennia. Amen
