A Lenten Devotion by Jan Adams
God gives snow like wool; and scatters frost like ashes.
Psalm 147:16
Slender stately birches bow slowly
to the ground in homage.
Still the snow comes down
Piling high on their arched backs.
Heads touching the ground
silently quietly listening
for a sign of new life.
Praying for the green mantles of spring.
Swaying ever so slightly
shaking off heavy burdens
of winter’s white cloaks
arising straightening tall bodies.
Evening breezes flutter
Their lacy sparkling gown.
Three lovely sisters dancing
Gracefully in nature’s ballroom.
Original poem dedicated to Karen Dolliver
May we shake off heavy burdens; may we dance gracefully in nature’s ballroom. Amen.
