Transforming Our Lives: Release, Evolve, Create

Join Open Spirit for our virtual Weekend of Spirit, as we reflect on the ways we are being transformed in these complicated and unusual time. With art, music, workshops and presentation, we will explore the ways we are challenged to “release, evolve, and create” is we face problems and possibilities.
On Friday evening at 7 pm, join us for “Together Alone” a virtual art show and discussion featuring original collections by Patrick and Samela St. Pierre. Patrick and Samela have been artists-in-residence at Open Spirit, and we are thrilled to welcome them as they join us from San Diego.
Our Saturday program, which runs from 10 am to 3 pm, begins with a keynote address, “The Earth is our Sanctuary: Making our World Breathable.” Dr. Liseli Fitzpatrick, a visiting professor at Wellesley College, will invite us to reflect on ways we can cultivate a bteathable world through sacred wisdom and eco-centered practices.
Morning workshops include: The History and Restorative Practice of Hand-Knitting, led by Dr. Nancy Gaulin; Qi-Gong/Tai Chi, led by Kathleen Sakovitz; and Writing Recipes of Love in the time of Covid, offered by Rev. Dr. Fran Bogle.
For lunch, you are invited to prepare one of our traditional Weekend of Spirit soups (recipes and cook-along videos provided) and enjoy a virtual concert offered by the Willie Sordillo Ensemble. There will be an opportunity to participate in creating a new Open Spirit quilt.
Afternoon workshops include: Mindful Anti-Racism: A Call for Social Justice, led by Dr. Danielle Rousseau; Meditation: The 3 Gateways, led by Katherine McClean; and Fake it til You Make It: Exploring Humor Through Yoga, led by Donna Warren.
The program will conclude with a guided meditation and a farewell.
