We have an incredible lineup of special music this November. For the first time during our virtual worship months, I’m reasonably sure, the majority of music you hear are recordings made especially for Edwards virtual worship. That’s amazing. And while some has been recorded by me, as you’d expect, more and more is being generated by “the masses,” a fact that touches my soul very deeply. You’ll hear music recorded in the silence of our sanctuary, in a darkened Edwards Hall, in home studios, and in multiple homes, synchronized afterward. Earlier this fall you even got to hear some backyard music, complete with crickets. Edwards is thriving during what could be (and is in some cases) a very dark and sad period for peer congregations without the know-how, curiosity, or interest to go far beyond the status quo and instead explore their creative urges. So much fine art has come during times of adversity and strife throughout the centuries. I’m overwhelmed to be doing our part in that chronology here with you.
Our next Edwards Church Multi-home Ensemble closing hymn “Sent Forth by God’s Blessing” will premiere on November 8 and continue through Stewardship, get your submissions in as soon as you can! This one is unison but the score offers a descant and I’d love some instruments to fill out the sound. Be creative! The information can be found at our shared Google Drive for media submissions; be sure to ask me if you have questions!
