Sunday School with Karen Nell
Outdoor Sundays after worship near the herb garden
The children will walk together from the Pray Ground to the Sunday School herb garden where they will water, weed, and tend their plants, read a story, and spend some time with their church friends.
Absorbing the Warmth of Community and the Sun
Mondays at noon in a sunny (or shady) spot on our campus
Come enjoy the warmth of community, absorb a little sunshine, and share in conversation and prayer. If it’s raining, we will not gather.
Book Group with Karen Nell Smith
Mondays at 4:00pm
In September, we read Hour of the Witch by Chris Bohjalian. Bohjalian is a master of non-fiction, this one about divorce for domestic violence and fear of witchcraft in 1662 Puritan New England. You can read Amazon’s review here. We pace ourselves reading about 100 pages a week, then meet for an hour or so on zoom with questions to spark our discussion. New members are most welcome ~ join us for interesting reading, spirited conversation and lots of laughter! Contact Karen Nell at choresis@comcast.net for the zoom invitation, reading assignment and questions for reflection.
Picnic Lunch Bunch with Debbie
First and third Wednesdays at noon (9/1, 9/15)
Weather-permitting, Lunch Bunch will continue to meet outdoors this fall, gathering in the shade near Edwards Hall at noon on September 1 and 15. In case of rain or heat-wave, we will move back to Zoom!
Bible Study Begins with John’s Gospel!
Second and Fourth Wednesdays at 4:30pm (9/8, 9/22)
The Wednesday evening Bible Study recently completed our study of the Gospel According to Mark. Mark’s gospel prompted us to ask two questions: What is Jesus’ message? What does it mean to follow him? This year, we are diving into the Gospel of John. Where Mark was terse and to-the-point, John is poetic and expansive. John prompts us to ask a slightly first different: Who is Jesus? The second question is the same: What does it mean to follow him? We will begin by experimenting with an “outdoor hybrid” model. You can come in person and join us on the porch of the office building, or you can zoom in to class. We’ll see how it works and make adjustments as necessary!
“Flowers and Fluff of Hope and Healing“ with Fran Bogle
Thursdays at 1:00pm
This group begins with nature photos as a jumping off place for people to share stories and prayers. Participants are welcome to share their own photos and prayer moments connected to nature. Email Fran (fbog@aol.com) if you would like to join.
Music Appreciation with Rick
Thursdays at 6:30pm
Throughout our virtual period, Rick Seaholm has been talking music on Thursday evenings, and new learners are always welcome. No music knowledge is required. We talk about composers, their works, and the many patterns that emerge when you look at music across the centuries. You will get exposed to score reading and critical listening, and hopefully take some skills which you might be able to use in your own mindfulness practice.
Bible Study with Karen Nell Smith
Fridays at 4:00pm
All are welcome to join us in this continuation of our Sunday morning Bible Study group. Each week we gather to check in with each other, read the scripture for the upcoming Sunday morning service, reflect, share and pray. Please email Karen Nell (choresis@comcast.net) for an invitation to join the group.
