Building and blessing backpacks! It’s time to go back to school. Last week a group from Edwards Church helped assemble backpacks for children in need in our community. In September and October, we’ll be worshipping outdoors at Edwards every week, with Sunday School on the porch of Jonathan House after the service. Ms. Myrna will zoom in to be with us. Lots of fun projects and crafts planned, so we hope you’ll join us!
Here are some special events and projects for Christian Explorers in September…
- Blessing of the animals! Meow! Woof! Bring your pet for our annual Blessing of the Animals service on Sunday, September 12.
- How does our garden grow? Each time we’re together, we’ll water our herb garden, pull out weeds, and watch it grow. Time to do another harvest of our herbs to donate to the community of Framingham.
- Filling the big penny jar. Each time we worship we’ll add coins to fill the penny jar and work together towards making a donation to help other people.
- “A pebble for your pocket” Everyone is invited to paint a special rock (or two) so that everyone in our church family has a special rock for their pocket to remind them of the journey we’ve been on together over the past year. Hold the rock in your hand and you’ll know that you are not alone, wherever the road ahead takes you!
- Hygiene kits for Haiti. This month we’ll join hands to assemble 50 hygiene kits to send to Haiti through Church World Service to help those who recovering from the earthquake there. Mark your calendar and roll up your sleeves on Sunday, September 26 (rain date Sunday, October 3), and join us in this important intergenerational service project!
