At our September Church Council meeting, we reiterated the values that guide us as we move forward into the fall: we seek to be loving, connected, inclusive and safe. This fall, we are doing that by gathering outdoors whenever possible, with a Zoom option. We are discovering more and more about how to gather in a “hybrid” fashion.
We are looking ahead to November, when it is likely that outdoor worship will begin to feel too chilly! Church Council affirmed the Phasing Forward Team’s hope that, beginning in November, we will move to hybrid worship from the sanctuary. The Phasing Forward Team is talking with other local churches who are currently worshipping indoors to learn from their experience. We will be attentive to social distancing, require masks, and encourage each person to make the best choice for in-person or virtual for their own comfort and well-being. Our Faith Formation Team is exploring possibilities to help our children feel included and safe. Church Council approved an upgrade to our heating system that will enhance the cleanliness of the air in the sanctuary.
Church Council is planning a special meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, to assess the latest information about COVID-19 and make a final decision for November. Please join in the meeting and share your hopes and your concerns.
