From our return to the sanctuary on November 14, through Christmas Sunday we planned a gradual increase in the amount of music per service in an effort to control the number of people in close proximity singing and rehearsing together.
God willing, our plan went, we would be able to reach Christmas Sunday singing joyfully, behind these masks of ours. After the six week lead-in, we got to see the fruits of that caution: a wide variety of musicians including staff and many volunteers. And it was amazing.
This was followed by a planned low-service, as customary the Sunday after Christmas. Now, at the new year, things are difficult to gauge again at this Steeple deadline. It amazes me that something could be so fluid that we are left to wonder on a near weekly basis where comfort levels will fall and how much singing and rehearsing we could really do with good conscience.
Therefore, I’ll remind you to let me know if you want to be included on my new mailing list for all things musical at Edwards Church. Just let me know at rick@edwardschurch.org and then you’ll be up to date as our situation changes this January.
There will surely be music but just how often and with how much rehearsal, remains to be determined.
