Sunday School with Karen Nell
In February, Christian Explorers will gather with their Sunday school friends in the Tent of Meeting during worship to learn, play, and pray together. Watch for updated information about CE programming and childcare going forward.
Absorbing the Warmth of Community and the Sun
Mondays at noon in a sunny (or shady) spot on our campus (no meeting 2/21)
Come enjoy the warmth of community, absorb a little sunshine, and share in conversation and prayer. If it’s raining, we will not gather. We will not meet on Presidents Day (February 21).
Book Group with Karen Nell Smith
In February, we begin reading A Woman of No Importance: The Untold Story of the American Spy Who Helped Win World War II, by Sonia Purnell. From Amazon’s review, “In 1942, the Gestapo sent out an urgent transmission: ‘She is the most dangerous of all Allied spies. We must find and destroy her.’ Virginia Hall was the first Allied woman deployed behind enemy lines and—despite her prosthetic leg—helped to light the flame of the French Resistance, revolutionizing secret warfare as we know it.” Read more here.
The group reads about 100 pages a week, then meets for an hour or so on Zoom with questions to spark our discussion. New members are most welcome; join us for interesting reading, spirited conversation and lots of laughter! Contact Karen Nell for the reading assignment and questions for reflection.
Lunch Bunch Hybrid-Style
First and third Wednesdays at noon (2/2 and 2/16)
Lunch Bunch will meet in Sue Dickerman Hall and by Zoom. Bring your own lunch and join us. Check email or call the office for potential changes in meeting location, depending on what is safe at the time.
Bible Study Swimming through John’s Gospel!
Second and Fourth Wednesdays at 4:30pm (2/9 and 2/23)
In-person and via Zoom
The Wednesday evening Bible Study is enjoying our study of the Gospel According to John. We are in awe of the glorious poetry and the unique set of questions John raises. You can come in person and join us in Edwards Hall, with plenty of space and two air filters, or you can join by Zoom. (Watch for details and potential changes in meeting location, depending on what is safe at the time.)
Flowers and Fluff of Hope and Healing with Fran Bogle
Thursdays at 1:00pm via Zoom
This group begins with nature photos as a jumping off place for people to share stories and prayers. Participants are welcome to share their own photos and prayer moments connected to nature. Email Fran (fbog@aol.com) if you would like to join.
Music Appreciation with Rick
Thursdays at 6:30pm via Zoom
Throughout our virtual period, Rick Seaholm has been talking music on Thursday evenings, and new learners are always welcome. No music knowledge is required. We talk about composers, their works, and the many patterns that emerge when you look at music across the centuries. You will get exposed to score reading and critical listening, and hopefully take some skills which you might be able to use in your own mindfulness practice.
Bible Study with Karen Nell Smith
Fridays at 4:00pm via Zoom
All are welcome to join us in this continuation of our Sunday morning Bible Study group. Each week we gather to check in with each other, read the scripture for the upcoming Sunday morning service, reflect, share and pray. Please email Karen Nell (choresis@comcast.net) for an invitation to join the group.
