This month, we celebrate Black History Month, a time of learning more about how our faith leads us to work for justice and help others. Here are some activities for Christian Explorers this month…
- Quilts for Kenya. Sunrise School in Mumias, Kenya is a school for children with autism. This month we’ll continue our congregation-wide project to make blankets and quilts for the children’s beds in the new dormitory, called “The Cottage,” where children and their families stay when they are at the school. Christian Explorers can help tie squares or make a handprint on a cotton square or two! Learn more.
- “Let me read you a story…” Each one of us can make a difference to make the world a better place. You can listen to this new book by poet Amanda Gorman and illustrated by Loren Long, entitled “Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem,” here, read by Sankofa Read Aloud.
- In the “Tent of Meeting” There’s always something to do at the tent during worship on Sunday mornings! In February, in addition to bringing in and out the light, working on our fleece blankets and other crafts, helping to fill the big penny jar and collect the offering. We hope you’ll join us!
