Group Singing Returns in February
We’re excited to try multiple weeks of live music in the sanctuary this month! It feels like a long time since the amazing Christmas Sunday celebration with On the Fence leading worship alongside Cheryl at the organ, and with our choir singing “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem.” Even Christmas Eve, with Amy Plackowski singing the meditative “O Magnum Mysterium” by Morten Lauridsen seems so long ago. In January, we took it easy and now it’s time for our worship series inspired by the words and teachings of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We will have a choir singing a new anthem “Be the Change” on February 13 with conga played by Danny Garrigan-Byerly, and also on February 27 with the familiar “Dedication and Amen” of John Rutter. The month begins with Nicola Seaholm singing “Up to the Mountain” and on February 20, you’ll hear “Set Me as a Seal” by a quartet of Amy, Nicola, Rob DeLossa, and me. I consistently have been telling all musicians that we are doing this all on the understanding that things can change at a moment’s notice and that’s okay! We’ve become a people well-versed in modifications lately.
