The Journey to Bethlehem
Edward Church rocks…come rock with us!
After a busy November, we find ourselves at the beginning of Advent, the time of preparation for Christmas. Christian Explorers will help during worship by bringing in and out the light and collecting the offering. Each Sunday, we’ll focus on a different part of the Christmas story and how each one was a journey to the Christ Child.
Our hybrid Christmas Pageant tradition continues with opportunities for families to participate from home or live in the sanctuary.
Here are some activities for Christian Explorers in December…
- Making figures for our own creche. Come to create your own shepherds and sheep, magi and angels, even Mary and Joseph as they journey on the road toward Bethlehem!
- Christmas Eve Pageant. On Christmas Eve at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary or at home, join us for our annual Christmas Pageant service, “The Journey to Bethlehem.” Some families will make videos of pieces of the pageant at home, others will play their parts live in the sanctuary during the service. Together, we’ll tell the Christmas Eve story in our own unique way. Watch for more information and think about which part of the story you’d like to tell!
- Star gifts. On New Year’s Day morning at 10 a.m., we’ll gather in the sanctuary for worship and each choose a “star word” to guide us on our journey from Bethlehem into the new year ahead. Come for this informal family communion service, followed by coffee hour.
