Excited for Spring!
For church musicians, the best time to think about spring worship music is the middle of winter, we’ve got to be prepared. For the first time, in mid January, I called together anyone at all who is interested in planning music for our services this Lent and Easter. As I write this, our session was just last night, but it really gave us some great ideas! During Lent we will explore the theme of traveling together with a number of familiar choral pieces: “The Gospel in a Word Is Love” (2/26), “One Bread, One Body” (3/5), “Healing River” (3/12), “We Will Walk in the Light” (3/26) and “You Raise Me Up” on Easter Sunday. What a great selection and you are invited to take part in any of these songs. Each is part of a “short term obligation” in which a set number of rehearsals will focus on each piece, will be known in advance and there’s never any obligation to do more than you can commit to. These dates are still being settled. Therefore you want to be sure to keep aware of the schedule. To be made aware of future planning sessions, rehearsals, and online classes, ask me to be added to music mail list of Edwards Church music lovers.
