Supporting Haitian Immigrants
In August, 54 Haitian families arrived in Framingham after their long journey toward a new life. Immediately, our Justice and Love in Action team leapt in to offer our support—buying emergency diapers, providing a meal, offering our space for a dance class. Since then, a multitude of organizations and individuals have stepped forward to help out in a variety of ways. Currently SMOC, the National Guard, and Jewish Family Services are coordinating efforts.
The Interfaith community have been invited to help provide warm clothing for the families. Using funds that have already been donated for this purpose, the Justice and Love in Action team will arrange to purchase winter coats, fleeces, shoes, socks and mittens for three families. If you’d like to help shop, or if you’d like to purchase clothing for another of the families, please speak with Debbie.
