A Note of Gratitude
Dear Edwards Church UCC Congregation,
Please accept my most sincere thanks for the generous donation Edwards Church UCC made to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention MetroWest Out of the Darkness Walk. The event itself provides a safe place for people to come together, remember those we have lost, raise community awareness, and take effective action to prevent suicide. Our walk team raised $1,075 thanks to your kindness, and the whole MetroWest walk community raised over $45,000 so far. These donations help fund research, free educational programming, advocacy for better mental health, and community support such as AFSP’s “Healing Conversations” program, which connects suicide loss survivors with trained volunteers who have had the same or a similar experience. I am training to present the free educational program, “Talk Saves Lives.” This power point program presents the extent of the problem, dispels myths, identifies warning signs of potential suicidality, and explains what to do in a crisis situation. I hope to be able to bring this talk to Edwards and/or Open Spirit at some point in the future.
Thank you again for your compassion and kindness,
Ronda R. Yeomans
