The Environmental Justice Team has two invitations for the congregation in the month of February.
Join us for a light soup lunch and book discussion of Under the Sky We Make: How to Be Human in a Warming World – by Kimberly Nicholas, PhD – Zoom and in-person at Sue Dickerman Hall, Sunday, February 11, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (light soup lunch provided in-person).
Please RSVP by emailing or calling Mary Memmott (memmottm@gmail.com, 508-202-2229) for the Zoom link if you plan to attend online or to RSVP for the lunch – advance notice appreciated so we can plan.
The message of this book is clear, “It’s warming. It’s us. We’re sure. It’s bad. But we can fix it.” You do not need to have finished the book to join the discussion; just dive in and join us wherever you are. The book is a call to action presented with grace, clarity, fear, hope, and even some humor. Available in paperback at most booksellers and through the Framingham Public Library.
And then start planning for the “Plastic-Free Lenten Challenge” – none of us might be able to reduce our plastic use to zero, but there are many ways we can work together for less plastic waste. We will be challenging all ages to reduce their plastic use with a fun Bingo game that you can participate in at home and at worship. If you have a favorite plastic reduction tip, please email Mary Memmott or talk to any member of the Environmental Justice Team (Joe Hudock, Ronda Yeomans, Jenny Allen, Laura Beck, Peggy Harrison, or Cindy Sweeney) – as soon as possible – and your suggestion might get featured in the game!
