Vegan Potluck & Game Night!
Saturday, July 13, 6:00-9:00 p.m. in Edwards Hall
Come share a delicious plant-exclusive meal, followed by laughs, as we play Taboo or Apples to Apples or Charades, or other party games! Bring a vegan dish to share (no meat, poultry, fish, dairy, eggs, honey, gelatin). Please note any allergens for folks who need to see that information.
If you have a particular party game that you love, feel free to bring that too! Please also bring a place setting, silverware, cloth napkin, and water bottle, so that we can live lightly on the planet. (If you can’t, no worries, the space has place settings and a sink to wash them in.) Suggested donation of $5-$10; more if you can, less if you can’t.
Learning to Listen
Sunday, July 14 and July 28, 1:00-2:30 p.m. in Edwards Hall
Ever wondered how you can improve your ability to truly listen in conversations? Have you found yourself in situations where you’re talking, and someone interrupts or seems distracted by their own thoughts? It’s a common challenge in our busy world, where attentive listening can be overlooked.
Join us for a two-part workshop focused on developing effective listening skills. Facilitated by Rev. Dr. Karen Nell Smith, who brings over 25 years of experience in teaching deep listening, along with Laura Beck, we’ll explore practical techniques to enhance dialogue. Together, we aim to foster a more connected world where everyone feels valued and heard.
Please plan to attend both sessions. Light refreshments will be served starting at 12:45 p.m. RSVPs are appreciated to help us prepare. Please plan to arrive on time as sessions will begin promptly at 1:00. Click to RSVP.
A suggested donation of $15-20 per session is welcomed (more if you can, less if you can’t), payable by cash or check. For credit card payments, please visit here and note Learning to Listen in message line. Let’s learn together to create a culture of attentive and empathetic listening.
Spirituality & Poetry; Grounded in Awe
Monday, July 15 and August 19, 2:00-3:30 p.m. in Edwards Hall
What stirs in us when we reach for a poem, whether sitting down to write or read the work of a favorite poet? Why do poems stay with us and continue to inform our lives? In this workshop, we’ll approach poetry as a vehicle for living more fully in the present and deepening our humanity. Each month we’ll focus on an element of craft in the context of a particular theme to generate new work.
This class is for anyone interested in poetry as a spiritual practice and no previous writing experience is required to enjoy the pleasures of creative expression. Come join us and be inspired! RSVPs are appreciated so that we can plan for space and supplies. To RSVP, please click here.
Suggested donation of $20. Donations may be made in-person by cash or check or mailed to Open Spirit at 39 Edwards Street, Framingham, MA 01701. If you prefer to donate via credit card, please visit here.
