I am so grateful for the time I have spent at Edwards Church these last few months as the Consulting Associate Pastor. I don’t think I have run around a sanctuary this much in many years. And I know it was the first time I have ever made bread in the sanctuary! It has been a wonderful learning experience also, as we all try to live into the evolving church and youth programs. Participating in the meetings with parents and the conversations with Rev. Debbie Gline-Allen allowed me to see how your congregations can thrive in the future. It gave me hope that youth programming and church worship can be flexible enough to engage our youth and offer to our families a safe, loving space in this world.
You are a warm and welcoming congregation who was always ready for a last-minute plan and a lot of fun! It was a pleasure to serve you during this time of transition. Although I am moving on to other ministry settings, I will always hold Edwards Church in my heart.
As you move forward into your new faith formation model, I know that your focus will be love for the youth and spreading God’s love in your community. With those priorities, blessings will abound.
The best part is that I will continue worshipping with you for a bit longer. During Pastor Debbie’s vacation in January, I will serve as your pulpit supply minister. I look forward to continuing in this short-term worship role, albeit without bread dough all over my hands.
Happy New Year! God is Good!
