Faith Formation for February
Our young people will join the entire congregation in our Sunday morning theme, “Faithful Followers.”
Each Sunday we will learn about the life of a faithful follower of Jesus: what can we learn from them about how to face difficult challenges and live with joy and meaning?
Sunday, February 2 — Intergenerational Worship with Communion
Our young people will participate in bringing in the light, an interactive message, a craft in the prayground, receiving the offering, and Holy Communion, as we explore the wisdom of St. Francis.
Sunday, February 9 — Sue Dickerman Hall with Ms. Myrna
Our young people will begin in worship then move into the Sue Dickerman Hall for a lesson and a craft led by Ms. Myrna, reflecting on the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
Sunday, February 16 — In the Prayground
Our young people will remain in worship for the service, with a special craft in the prayground, focusing on the wisdom of our friends at Hadwen Park Congregational Church, founders of the LGBT Asylum Task Force.
Sunday, February 23 — Sue Dickerman Hall with Pastor Debbie
Our young people will begin in worship, then move into Sue Dickerman Hall for a lesson led by Debbie Clark, focusing on the life of Jimmy Carter. We will create decorations for our Mardi Gras Dessert Auction (which will be the following Sunday).
Incredible Days Family Service Project Trip
March 21-23, Providence, Rhode Island
It’s not too late to sign up for our first ever Family Service Project Trip! We will work with a group called “Incredible Days,” whose mission statement includes these words: The belief that we are all called to work for a more just world undergirds everything we do. As an organization, we proudly affirm the sanctity of all creation and the rich diversity of the world’s people, including people of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
We will carpool Friday evening to Seekonk Congregational Church, near Providence, where we will spend the night. On Saturday, we will participate in two service projects, including attending and providing sandwiches for an outdoor church, many of whose members are homeless. On Sunday, we’ll attend church, have lunch, and return home.
We ask each participant to contribute between $25 and $100 toward the cost of the program. We will fundraise and draw upon our Youth Fund for the rest (see the article about our Mardi Gras Dessert Auction on March 2 in Announcements). Sign up here, or reach out to Debbie for more information.
Second Adult Sign-Up
In order to support our young people and teachers and to ensure a safe church for everyone, we are asking adults in the church to sign up to be a “Second Adult” each Sunday. You don’t have to prepare a thing; just come enjoy our amazing young people. You can sign up here: Second Adult Signup
