Lenten Devotional 2025: Deep and Wide: Becoming Beloved Community
Again, this year, Edwards Church will create our own Lenten Devotional, with a reflection available each day during Lent (via email, Facebook, and on the website). We need your creativity to make this happen! Your reflections could be in the form of a prayer, a poem, a paragraph, or a photograph. Our theme this year is “Deep and Wide: Becoming Beloved Community” (see Debbie’s introduction for more background).
Twice a week, the devotion will be in the form of an invitation to deepen or widen our community, with ideas for strengthening relationships within our community and reaching out to others. The other five days each week will feature reflections by congregation members.
Your Lenten Devotion could take many forms. Here are a few ideas:
- Tell a story of a time you felt loved in community.
- Talk about what the word “beloved” means to you.
- Send a photo or drawing of a community that you love.
- Tell a story about a struggle to feel part of a community.
- Tell a story about how you came to be part of Edwards Church.
- Tell a story about risking reaching out to people you didn’t know.
- Tell about a time you felt welcomed into an unfamiliar community.
Each reflection includes scripture and a short prayer. Debbie is happy to add those to your reflection, or you can do that yourself. Your reflection does not need to be long. If you have a picture, you might choose to have only a very few words. In general, written reflections should be 200-500 words.
