Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.–Matthew 10
On Monday, March 31, we are hosting a community dinner in honor of Transgender Visibility Day. In a time when our transgender siblings are facing loss of rights, acts of hatred, and efforts to make them invisible, this dinner is about saying, “We see you. We love you. We value you.” The meal will be simple, and we hope it will convey our profound respect and appreciation, and our commitment to stand with one another in tough times.
Today, we invite you to write a card–or two or three or four–to be given out at the community dinner on the 31st. The cards can be simple; what they will convey will be profound.
Here are some ideas for things you might write:
–We see you. We love you. We value you.
–Thanks for coming to share a meal together.
–Know you are loved and beloved.
–You are a gift to our world.
Bring the cards to church this coming Sunday and next, or drop them by the church office.
May we extend an extravagant welcome to all your beloved, O God. Amen.
