“Rejoice with those who rejoice…” Romans 13:15a
Today, we continue our Friday Lenten practice of an action to deepen our connections or widen our community. These are difficult times, when we are acutely aware of pain and injustice, when we struggle to find ways to be present to that pain and fight injustice. With all that is happening, it is easy to miss our on opportunities to “rejoice with those who rejoice.”
Today, or this weekend, I invite you to think of someone in our church community who has cause for celebration. It might be something big: a new job, a great achievement, a new family member. It might be something simple: a tasty new recipe they tried, a walk that lifted their spirits, the courage to come sing with the Morning Glory choir.
Find a way to let them know that you are rejoicing with them. Maybe just tell them. Or send a card or email or text. Or applaud or smile….
God of joy, open us to reasons to rejoice. Help us rejoice together. Amen.
